GET TO KNOW ME

I find it important that clients know a bit about who their practitioner is as a person, so here are some quick facts about me and how I ended up pursing my career in semi-permanent makeup…

My name is Ashley Boyd. I’m a 90’s baby, born and bred in Barrhead/Glasgow, where I also work! I’ve been with my partner Fraser for over 13 years, and we have a son together – he has four legs, grey fur and his name is Echo! I’ve had the same best friends my whole life and I have an older brother and sister who I couldn’t live without. I love Oasis and old school trance/dance music, which I have my siblings to thank for - I truly believe I was born in the wrong generation!

Now for the career path… It all began in 2017 when I joined a friend’s beauty salon – the infamous Chelsea’s Brows. When I first started, I was a self-taught makeup artist only working weekends as I was at Strathclyde university as a law student, as well as working in McDonalds part-time!

Whilst doing makeup and already being in the salon environment, it only felt right get involved with the treatment side of things, completing brow and lash courses along the way. Over the years, I built such a solid client base which allowed me to work full time in the salon after university.

Which lead to lip blush… Investing in my training for lip blush and eyeliner tattooing is hands down the best thing I’ve ever done! To me cosmetic tattooing isn’t just about “looking like you’re wearing makeup 24/7” it’s being able to give people confidence through a service that I can provide for them and making them feel genuinely better about themselves! The number of times clients have hugged me once seeing their results is crazy, and I’m a hugger so it really does make my day and proud that I can make someone feel so happy!

If someone told me back when I was studying law that I would be a permanent makeup artist, and not a lawyer, I wouldn’t have believed you as I never intended to have a career in this industry! I genuinely believed that I would cease my beauty treatments once I completed my degree in law and would eventually be a lawyer - but here we are, and I wouldn’t change any of it for the world!
